Yamuna Nagar

Yamunanagar is a city and district headquarters in Haryana, India, known for its strong industrial base, especially plywood and timber products. It sits near the Yamuna River and the Shivalik foothills, which gives the area both agricultural value and scenic importance.

History

Yamunanagar district came into existence on 1 November 1989 and covers about 1,756 square kilometers. The district includes Yamunanagar city and nearby Jagadhri, often called twin cities because their boundaries blend together in practice. The population of the district was about 1.21 million in the 2011 Census, and the city itself had a population of around 216,677.

Geography and climate

The district has a mix of foothills, plains, and river-influenced land, with the Yamuna River flowing through it. Its climate is subtropical and monsoon-based, with hot summers, cool winters, and most rainfall concentrated in the rainy season.
